A significant feature of the LaCie d2 Quadra external hard drive is the quadruple interface including USB2.0, FireWire800, FireWire400 and eSATA. Not being able to supply power eSATA is not as popular a connection interface for external hard drives but, it’s 300Mb/s transfer is certainly something to be appreciated especially if you are working in an office or home office situation and have regular backups to contend with. When you think about it, if your external hard drive is going to be continually dragged around with you then the chances of an accidental drop are much higher compared to those that live the common sedentary, desktop life. Why take a risk of having to rely on successful data recovery if you can buy a rugged external hard drive able to take some knocks?
