Western Digital Elements 1 TB, 750GB, 640GB and 500GB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive Review

The Western Digital Elements external hard disk drive (HDD) is the entry level model of the WD external desktop series. It has a USB 2.0 connection and is preformatted for immediate use. The WD Elements external HDD is PnP (Plug-n-Play) so there is no setup required. The Elements HDD has a compact form factor for the desktop and has a durable aluminum enclosure for extra data protection in case of accidents such as getting knocked onto the floor.

Western Digital Elements external HDD

The WD Elements external HDD is compatible with Windows 2000/XP/Vista and Mac OS 10.3+. There is no backup software provided so the options are to use what is available with your operating system or purchase dedicated software. However, if you are simply after extra storage and already have backups covered (eg. twin RAID 1 configured HDD) [LINK] then the Western Digital Elements external HDD is an economical option. Shifting files to storage is simply a matter of drag-and-drop.
