The LaCie 1TB 301270U and 500GB 301269U are competitively priced network storage (NAS) and media server devices with generous capacity options for the home userThe LaCie NAS drives are compact measuring 1.7 x 6.3 x 6.8 inches (WxHxD) and are backed by a long 3 year warranty by LaCie.


LaCie Ethernet Disk mini NAS

Once attached to your home network, such as the one you might use to share your broadband connection, saving your digital photographs, music, and video files is a simple drag-and-drop operation. . A capacity of 1 TB (1000 GB) can store up to 1 million photos, 250,000 songs or 1000 movies. Speed of data access is good with a disk rotational speed of 7200 rpm and 16 MB of cache. If you want to carry your data with you on a USB drive there is a USB port.

Once uploaded, your digital assets can be made available to friends and family through LaCie’s media portal, HomeLaCie.com, where you can allocate permissions to friends and family to access photos, music or any other file or folder. Your PC does not have to be running for your digital assets to be available. Files can be accessed from any Internet connection using a web browser.

The LaCie NAS drives have excellent compatibility with uPnP AV, Windows Connect, and DLNA-certified devices for streaming audio and video to digital media players such as HDTVs, digital photo frames and even game consoles like the PS3 or Xbox 360. There is also an internal iTunes server for listening to music over a network.

The LaCie Ethernet Disk mini comes with software for Windows and Mac OS X for automatic backup of data when required. Files can be synchronized with your laptop or netbook.
