The Linksys by Cisco NMH305 Media Hub for home entertainment storage is and intelligent storage and file server device. As well as providing secure storage it provides a convenient way to access and stream your digital music, photos, and videos. To save time and effort on your behalf it will scan and aggregate media from your PCs and other storage devices once connected to the same network (10/100/1000 gigabit ethernet). Other storage devices can also be connected via one of the two USB ports.

The Linksys NMH305 has twin SATA interface hard disk drive (HDD) bays, one containing a pre-installed 500 GB, green-power hard disk drive with the second empty for an upgrade if/when required. The NMH305 supports RAID1 and JBOD storage configurations. To help ensure that essential backup operations take place Linksys by Cisco include automatic backup software (NTI Shadow) for making backup copies of your all important family photos, music, videos and other essential documents.
There is a user-friendly, browser-based Media Browser to view JPEG pictures,
play MP3 and WMA music, and manage system configuration. A lot of flexibility is available for setting up backups including automatic scheduled, on-demand via a user interface or by pushing the backup button. Content can be streamed to an Xbox 360 or UPnP (plug and play) DMA devices. The popular iTunes server is also supported. Significantly, the Media Hub is capable of streaming three simultaneous high-definition (HD) video streams.
Once your digital files are on the NMH305 Media Hub they can be conveniently accessed by yourself and others you give permission to via the Internet. Files can be uploaded remotely as well (holiday photos?). Remote access is available free from Cisco for the first 12 months following sign up but, fees may apply afterwards.
