Seagate FreeAgent Desktop 750GB, 500GB, 320GB and 250GB USB2.0 External Hard Drive Review

Highlights of the Seagate FreeAgent Desktop external HDD are the large storage capacity (up to 750GB), USB 2.0 and a five year limited warranty. It has a faily distinctive look with an expresso brown color and molten amber illumination.

Seagate FreeAgent Desktop external HDD

The Seagate FreeAgent external hard drive has a compact form factor being 7.5 x 1.6 (without 3.2 wide base) x 6.4 inches (HxDxW)*. A SATA II hard disk with a 7200rpm spindle speed and 16MB of cache combined with USB2.0 (max 480Mbits/s) gives a fast data transfer rate. * 190 x 40 [81 base] x 162 mm

Setting up the Seagate FreeAgent is drop dead easy (certainly easier than dealing with data recovery) just connect power and plug in the USB cable and you’re away. While the Seagate Desktop external HDD is suitable for use with a Mac, it is formatted NTFS and you will have to reformat it for Mac using Mac OS X’s Disk Utility before use. The Seagate FreeAgent portable hard drive is compatible with Windows Vista, Windows XP and Windows 2000.

There are 4 storage capacities available in the Seagate FreeAgent series as listed below;

  • 250GB ST302504FDA1E1-RK
  • 320GB ST303204FDA1E1-RK
  • 500GB ST305004FDA1E1-RK
  • 750GB ST307504FDA1E1-RK
