Seagate FreeAgent Go for Mac | 500GB, 320GB and 250GB | Portable External Hard Drive Review

The FreeAgent Go for Mac is preformatted to work with a Mac operating system (Time Machine-ready) which is more convenient than buying one formatted for Windows and re-formatting it yourself. The FreeAgent Go for Macs look attractive and sleek but come in only one color – silver.

As well as being a storage solution for your photos, music videos and personal digital documents the FreeAgent Go for Mac external HDD (5400 rpm) is very compact and portable so you it can be used by those on the move to save personal settings and data (such as favorites, passwords, IM client and contacts, email client, cookies and custom settings) for use on other computers. Saving your personal data to an external drive can be an excellent protection against unauthorized access as can the available encryption.

With both FireWire 800 (800Mb/s) and USB 2.0 (480Mb/s) interfaces data transfer is guaranteed to be swift. For convenience there is a FreeAgent FireWire 800 desktop dock which is a good idea if you are going to be taking this portable unit to work with you each day. There is also a travel case for protecting it while in transit.

Seagate have Seagate Diagnostics for Mac software available for download from their website (see below). It is designed to check the overall health of your Seagate FreeAgent drive for Mac.

It’s certainly worth noting that the Seagate FreeAgent Go for Mac has a very generous 5 year limited warranty.
