Western Digital My Book World Edition II

WD’s My Book World Edition II is a remote-access storage system which can be accessed over a network. As a stand alone appliance it does not require a PC to be on. It’s an ideal solution for tasks such as backing up laptop data to one’s home while traveling. From any network (Internet) files on the World Edition II can be accessed for file transfer and files can even be remotely opened, edited and saved. The My Book World Edition II includes professional EMC Retrospect Express backup software for scheduled or on-demand file backup. Extra Data Protection can be provided by using half of the World Edition II’s capacity to mirror data in real time using RAID technology.

Western Digital My Book Pro Edition II and Premium Edition II

WD’s My Book Pro Edition II and Premium Edition II are external hard drive storage appliances for extra storage and data backup protection. The primary difference between the two My Book models is the EMC Retrospect Express backup software with the Pro Edition vs the WD Backup Software with the Premium Edition II. The Pro Edition also comes with a longer three year warranty. For installation flexibility, both units have three methods of connection - ultra-fast FireWire 800, as well as FireWire 400 and USB 2.0. A convenient feature is the capacity gauge allowing space available to be checked at a glance.
